‘By the Numbers’ Fact Sheet Redesign

Project types:, ,
Tools:, ,

MCC’s “By the Numbers” fact sheet is a single sided, one page document that distills the agency’s work into a quickly and easily digestible form for fast comprehension.

The Challenge

Over the years, as MCC’s work expanded across the globe, the simplicity of the original design started to become more crowded leading to clutter and less comprehension.

The fact sheet’s redesign needed to recapture its simplicity for easy comprehension while also demonstrating the breadth and complexity of the agency’s work around the world.

The Solution

  • Used a recently created report as a source document;
  • Modeled the data points and program organization after the same items in the report for ease of maintenance;
  • Discussed most what the most important information to convey is and determined:
    • A series of data points with top line numbers would be useful to grab attention;
    • Organizing programs by region would allow those interested in a specific region to focus there but also quickly demonstrates the breadth of the agency’s work around the world through region-specific data points; and
    • Within each region, countries where MCC works would be identified by a flag button and country name allowing for further drill-down
  • Kept the annual budget chart, but turned it into an actual chart to make it more visually appealing and to visually demonstrate the consistency of appropriations over the years; and
  • Removed the Board of Directors list as it is important, but less relevant content.
