Update 3: The (No More) Bland Brettrospective

May 1, 2025

Today I launched my website’s custom WordPress theme bringing years of “the bland Brettrospective” to an end. I am very excited to have this website using Brettro’s colors and core branding again.

The theme uses the foundational framework of the Brettro Design System, including the:

  • grid,
  • layout,
  • typography, and
  • color palette.

It also uses the beginnings of the design system components, most notably the:

  • navigation,
  • cards, and
  • collections.

This is definitely a “minimum viable product” launch as the entire design system is not yet production-ready. It was important to me, however, to showcase the work I have already completed on my design system journey. And as I make incremental improvements and put additional elements into production, you will experience that firsthand while browsing the site.

In the meantime, while I’m working hard to ensure the site theme is as polished as possible, there may be some bumps, hurdles and broken images on occasion. Rest assured, I am fixing them as soon as I find them.

What’s Next?

I am continuing to document moving my design system from Figma into development and then into production. I am continuing to work on the design system’s typography, its containers and layouts and its color palettes. And I have started building out the basic components of the system.
